Çiler Hatipoğlu is Assistant Professor at METU Department of Foreign Language Education where she has been working since 2005.
She completed a BA in Foreign Language Education (Major Degree) and Linguistics (Minor Degree), and an MA in Foreign Language Testing at Bogaziçi University, Istanbul, Turkey. She also obtained an MA in Educational Sciences in 2002 and a PhD in Linguistics, in 2003, at the University of the West of England, Bristol, UK.
Dr. Hatipoğlu’s main research interests are cross-gender and cross-cultural communication, speech acts, corpus linguistics, second language acquisition, interlanguage pragmatics, language in the media, language in e-mails and foreign language testing. She is also interested in issues of teaching pedagogy, especially those related to foreign language education.
