ExmaraldaThe aim of METU Spoken Turkish Corpus Project is to construct a linguistically analyzed resource consisting of one million words of face-to-face or mediated interactions in present-day Turkish.

The corpus will be made available to academia and researchers in all areas of studies related to language.

METU Spoken Turkish Corpus Project, uses EXMARaLDA Software Suite for transcription, annotation, corpus analysis and management.

  • What is a Corpus?

    • A corpus is a large, usually computerized, database of spoken and/or written texts of a language, which allows for “searching for, retrieveing, sorting and calculating lingusitic data” (McEnery & Wilson 1996: 17).

  • Aim of the Project

    • The aim of METU Spoken Turkish Corpus Project (ODT-STD) is to construct a linguistically analyzed corpus consisting of one million words of face-to-face or mediated interactions in contemporary Turkish. The corpus will be made available to academia and researchers in all areas of studies related to language.
